Last night the East River Park became winter wonderland – it’s amazing how far this park can stretch one inch of snow… After shul I took my bike down to the track at 10th Street and was gratified to discover only a handful of nuts with parklust similar to mine.

It was difficult to tell where the soccer field grass ended and the running track began under the snow. You had to feel it with your feet…
When you pass by another nut in the snow you usually grimace. Runners don’t nod that much. They’re a pained race.
This one guy was practicing his ski moves. It looked like he was having fun.
You know what’s missing from this picture? The bleachers. They were removed last August to allow the DOP to rebuild the tile floor that had been in bad repair.
The bleachers are bunched up in a sad group outside the track field’s fence, waiting for the workmen. They don’t look different from the old bleachers. The old ones were great for stretching. Now you have to improvise a lot when you stretch.
In case you were wondering about the promenade work - it’s frozen. No movement around the snow. Very safe for the fish.
I was hoping to catch the seals under a proper blanket of snow, but an inch melts fast on the asphalt.
These guys looked more like dinosaurs in a tar pit than joyful sea mamals.
This group looked outright resentful… I’ll try to visit again on a heavier day.
