Police are searching for thieves who broke into the local district office of Rep. Nydia Velazquez last weekend, officials said. The congresswoman’s 12th District encompasses most of the Lower East Side (but not Co-op Village).
Staffers arriving to work on Monday discovered the broken door and alerted the police. The congresswoman’s second-floor office suite at 266 Broadway in Williamsburg was one of two offices in the building burglarized between July 27 and 30, police said.
The thieves made off with several pieces of office equipment, police said.
Velazquez has a second, smaller office in downtown Brooklyn that was not affected.
Staffers in the Williamsburg office referred all inquiries to Rep. Velazquez’s Washington office.
